As I settle in to my new base, I’ve been thinking about what I want to photograph while I’m here. I mentioned a few posts previously that I wish I’d documented more of my own life and living situation on film over the last few years… after all, these are the photos I enjoy looking back on most. Don’t get me wrong, I love my landscapes and my old tin buildings, and I’ll still photograph them to death, but I think my slightly unusual way of living deserves to take up more room in my folder of negatives.
So begins a series, ‘Island Life’. A tiny caravan on a disused campsite on the Isle of Skye. Creating my own little nook amongst old structures, trailers and static caravans on a land filled with memories of it’s former use. The hills on one side and the coast on the other. I’ve photographed Skye as a visitor, but now I’ll be looking at it as home.
