I’m never truly content to just stay in one place, but sometimes I need a change of scenery without the novelty of a completely new place. I have my comfort places, and Glenmore is one of them. I like to think I know the area quite well now, but I don’t find myself being bored when I’m there. I love riding the familiar tracks, and walking my camera up to spots that I’ve photographed time and time again.
One place that had been on my list for a while though, is Ryvoan bothy. We all know I love to photograph anything with a bit of wriggly tin on it, so I’d been meaning to walk up here for ages, but honestly…. I didn’t realise how close it was. I’d been putting it off for an ideal weather day but if I’d know it’d be just a short cycle then a little walk…. oh well. It’s done now.
Utsi’s hut, an old reindeer herder’s cabin in the forest, is one I’ve been to a good few times now, but will always love. A long trudge through heather tracks, all slowly climbing up hill, to find refuge in a wooden structure on a hill is just an ideal way to spend a morning.
I’ll be back Glenmore, see you soon.
