Here on the Isle of Skye, it hasn't really felt like we’ve had a summer. I remember these quiet snowy days, and I remember thinking ‘oh, we’re creeping into spring now, it’ll get brighter’ and it just sort of…. didn’t. I remember thinking this month after month, and while the snow did melt away, it didn’t really get much drier or sunnier this year.
It’s October now, and we’re slowly creeping back into winter, and I’m remembering the chill of a proper cold, frosty morning. This winter, we’ll be back towards the forest and the colder temperatures, hopefully bringing us more snow rather than the wind and rain we mostly had here on the west. I love the real cold, the cold that makes it feel eerily dry and quiet, where you can hear noises from miles away bounce off the snow and follow you home.
